Click to see original Image in a new windowThings are getting very exciting around my town this week. The "quiet" and "sleepy" town of Jacksonville Florida is the host of Super Bowl XXXIX.

Ten years ago, Jacksonville was awarded a NFL franchise. The Jacksonville Jaguars are our hometown heros. But with all the games played in our town, nothing has ever compared to this.

The Jacksonville Host Committee has been working hard over the last several years to make this Super Bowl a great event and a refection of our city. Many new hotels have been built, and cruise ships have been docked to prepare for the influx of visitors to our "River City by the Sea."

The local events are heating up, from $2000 benefit dinners to a free concert (headlined by our local group Lynyrd Skynyrd.) Limos and tour buses like I have never seen here before. All will find something to do this week to celebrate this event.

The matchup between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles should be an excellent climax to a festive week. These two teams surely proved themselves to be the best of the best of this years NFL teams.

Hope you get a chance to watch. Post any thoughts that you have about the game, events or the town. And above all don't believe any of the bad press about the city of Jacksonville. It is truly a great city and will shine like a diamond with Super Bowl XXXIX.

Update: The game played on February 6, 2005 was won by the Patriots over the Eagles 24 to 21. It was a hard fought game by both teams. An an excellent entertaining game to watch.
